The Countdown Continues…

The student-athlete experience is different on most college campuses. @ajhanaikeaton, a former Division I athlete “assumed” all athletes had access to the resources she was accustomed to at Colorado St…. until she got involved with the BSA Summit. However, since the creation of the summit, we’ve seen a number of student-led organizations that were birthed from this very conference to create more resources and community for the athletes. Transformation is created at the BSA Summit and you don’t want to miss this one.

Let’s take the reflections back to Day One!

The BSA Summit held its first gathering in 2015 and Armani Dawkins (@armani__dee) was in the building for it. In this clip she speaks about why she chose to make the trip for the inaugural summit.

The landscape of college has drastically shifted since 2015, but the purpose and drive for the BSA Summit is still very much the same— the wellbeing of the student-athlete and staff that serve them. Helping the athletes stretch their thinking of who they are and who or what they can be after (now during) their playing days is vital to the mission.

This year at the BSA Summit, we want to ensure that we leave a positive impact in the city of Chicago!

The 2025 BSA Summit Community Impact Initiative is dedicated to making a lasting contribution to the Chicago community by promoting literacy and education. In partnership with local organizations, schools, and libraries, we are calling on all attendees to participate in our ambitious book drive, “Books for Change: The 2025 BSAS Book Drive.”

Our goal is simple yet impactful: collect at least 2,025 books to distribute across Chicago’s communities.

How You Can Help?

We’re asking every BSA Summit attendee to bring at least two books to the conference.

Books should be:

• Suitable for Pre-K to adult readers (highly recommending elementary and middle school books)
• New or gently used
• NOT formal textbooks

Books will be donated to:

• Local public schools and after school programs
• Chicago Public Library Branches
• Youth Community Centers
• Nonprofits dedicated to literacy and education

We’re kicking off the 10-year Anniversary with a powerful and inspiring evening featuring a Conversation with Ryan Clark— Super Bowl Champion, ESPN Analyst and Co-Founder/Host of the Pivot Podcast.

The event will begin at 8pm and doors open at 7:30. Badges will be required for all BSA Summit attendees to be admitted. Clark will be interviewed by Founder and Executive Director of the Summit, Dr. Leonard Moore.

Fun fact about the connection between Dr. Moore and Clark, most recently their sons (Jordan Clark and Leonard Moore) were teammates on the Notre Dame Football team. Previously, they both spent time at Louisiana State University; Clark as a student-athlete, and Moore as a professor.

Transformation starts at the BSA Summit!

When student-athletes attend the Summit, they aren’t just listening to a lot of talking heads or just there for fun; they are getting poured into by professionals as well as their peers.

@tacowright has attended the Summit for multiple years and after the first time, he and others from his university took what they experienced back to their respective school. Like Wright and his peers, many student-athletes leave this summit revitalized, empowered and find ways to improve their livelihood on campus.

This Sunday, the Black Student Athlete Summit Fellows present "Locker Room Hours: Chats with the Fam." This 4 part virtual workshop series will take place February 16th - March 9th. A few of the fellows stopped by to tell you what to expect when you attend. These student-athlete led and student-athlete centered conversations will cover a wide range of topics and will be a good starting point for learning more about the Black Student Athlete Summit.
